Arcturian Gate is a record label founded in 1994 by AOMUSIC's Richard Gannaway under the LLC "AO Music".[1] In addition to its function as an independent label, AO Music / Arcturian Gate is also the publishing entity for its artists. The label's primary artist is the world music group AOMUSIC, featuring Miriam Stockley, the voice of Karl Jenkins' "Adiemus" project, whose recording credits include Tina Turner, Chaka Khan, George Michael, Freddie Mercury, Deniece Williams, Mike Oldfield, Brian May and David Arkenstone.[2][3] Jay Oliver is also a founding member of Aomusic, whose credits include, Sheryl Crow, The Eagles, Celine Dion, Jimmy Buffett, Bonnie Raitt, Wynona Judd, Glenn Frey, Joe Walsh, Chick Corea, Peabo Bryson, Dave Weckl and Maynard Ferguson. The nineties rock group Tiger & the Helix was the first ensemble to appear on the label's roster.[4][5][6][7]

In 2001 the label was invited to Beijing to meet with CRC (the China Record Corporation) and introduced to the Beijing Olympic Committee, who requested that they have their artist, Aomusic compose theme music for the 2008 Summer Games. Ultimately, the AOMUSIC song ("On Jai Ya") was not selected as the Olympic theme piece.[8] In 2004, the label collaborated with Bollywood film score composer and head of Columbia Records, India, Sandeep Chowta.[9][8]

With the release of its third AOMUSIC album "...and Love Rages on!" in Feb. 2011, AO Music / Arcturian Gate formally aligned with FirstGiving / GlobalGiving umbrellas. The FirstGiving / AO Music / Arcturian Gate alliance is specifically organized to build sustainable villages for the children of Haiti who were displaced by an earthquake in 2010, and represents the first association of its kind for the label's non-profit affiliate AO Foundation International.[10]
